Digital photography based on medical & scientific objects and fictional specimens.

Red Pill, Blue Pill

(2016)

Red Pill, Blue Pill is a series of digital prints. Fragments of light converge and travel through multiple layers of defined structures. The splintering light refracts and reflects, warping perspective, blurring boundaries. The architecture is puzzling. Glass office buildings? Exclusive housing? High-end stores? Not exactly.

The images are based on light passing through a series of acrylic stacked boxes containing scientific objects and specimens. The images are a fictional narrative. Like Neo in the movie The Matrix, we are offered a choice – take the blue pill and believe the architectural illusion or take the red pill and learn what is real.
